note that the supposedly "ehlich" yid invited the person that "framed" him to his in-laws for purim (between his two murders), and that he recently sued the state of new york for a list of magazines he claims were withheld from him. these magazines are of a sick and depraved nature.
philip drelich murdered his pregnant wife in cold blood in an attempt to cover his tracks in another -- greed based -- murder. when the matter was recently looked into by a top criminal lawyer at the behest of several rabbonim, the lawyer stated that not only wouldn't he take this case (based on philip's guilt), but that had he prosecuted this case, he would have gotten him an even more severe sentence.
instead of wasting your time trying to help a cold-blooded killer, do anything usefull instead.

actually, i am extremely familiar with all aspects of this case, and still stand by my assertion that philip is a sick individual who truthfully belongs in jail for the remainder of his natural life.

additionally, i have personally seen the papers supposedly proving his innocence, (as did the lawyer i mentioned in my last comment), and they have done absolutely nothing to change my opinion.
Why do I sense that "anonymous" is a friend of the Rabbi who testified?
In any case, here are some facts as a friend of the family:
a) Fact: Mr. Drelich's guilt still remains to be proven. His sentence was based on the Rabbi's incriminating testimony.
b) Fact: Mr. Drelich's family was very close to the Rabbi before his incriminating testimony. It only magnifies the shock when he testified against him.
Why did he testify? We believe it was a mixture of supererogatory arrogance. There is also the possibility that Drelich "confessed" to him out of fear (see E below).
Regardless of the reason, his testimony against a fellow coreligionist, alienated him from many fellow Jews from then on.
c) Fact: A persons preference for certain reading material is irrelevant in proving his lack of innocence or goodness of heart. How more so to accuse him of murder. Far be it for those of us who have sought questionable pastimes in times of weakness to point fingers at people languishing in prison without any companionship or warmth. As to reading material that is of a "sick" and "depraved" nature, your expertise in this matter is both refreshing and very professional.
d) Fact: There is no other murder that Drelich is accused of. Had there been one, we wouldn't need a "top" criminal lawyer to make us aware of it.
e) Fact: Drelich was involved with a business arrangement that was linked to the underworld. Facts are very few in this regard as to how that left him with a murdered wife, but the most probable explanation after all these years is still the following: she knew "too much".
He, being the frightened and gullible type, would rather take the fall and go to prison, than talk and risk being killed.
Although this is a very simplistic explanation: Simple works in this case. If anyone knew Drelich's nature as a kid and teen and later on as a married adult, they would agree with this.
So this begs the question - for me at least - how can someone who is, in his own words "extremely familiar with all aspects of this case" - not know this?
The answer is either you are quite unfamiliar with the details of this case, or you are partial to the Rabbi who testified.
Either way your post comes across as being written by a child.

Philip Drelich is innocent of all crimes against him. He was framed and remained quiet all these years to protect people he loves. Under terrible obstacles, he has remained a true Torah Jew. He has never givin up his emunah in Hashem Yisborach and he continues to do mitzvos every day. This so called anonymous person, should be the one who is in jail. To spread such lies about a fine frum Jews, is disgusting. Half of Philip's life was taken away from him and he should be released immediately. People like anonymous should be ashamed of himself.
sam - as a matter of fact, i happen to be a relative of philip, and familiar with every aspect of the case.
a) you say his guilt wasn't proven, others say it was. obviously this is the basis our disagreement, and will not be settled on a blog.
b) unless you are stating that the rabbi created the confession from whole cloth, your issue is with the fact that he testified, not with what he testified.
c) i am not faulting philip for his choice in reading materials, only pointing out that the assertion that he is such an "ehlich" yid is incorrect.
d) i'm not sure how you're not aware of this, but philip was accused and convicted of the murder of martin paretzky approximately one month before he murdered his wife.
e) the only thing that makes sense about your statement that philip's wife "knew too much" is that perhaps she knew too much about his own dealings and the police investigation into his involvement in the paretsky "kidnapping" (he was still only missing at the time). and you're right, that is an excellent motive for his killing her.
randomly flinging assumptions like "you are partial to the Rabbi who testified" and statements like "Either way your post comes across as being written by a child" do not serve you well in this situation. all my facts are documentable, and no assumptions taken lightly.

i have personaly spoken to people that were involved in this case 30 years ago, we know exactly who killed his wife!, we know exactly who killed the jeweler!

Those of us who were at the trials and heard the police evidence know that his guilt was proven beyond a reasonable doubt in both murders.
The rabbis testimony was not the main proof in either case, it just confirmed what the police proved.
You clearly mean well, but take it from those who were there.

Fascinating stuff.I knew the family intimately as a kid,and seeing them detiriorate as a ressult of the "rabbi"'s testimony still makes me feel for them.I knew/know almost no details of the case,but vividly remember a feeling which could only be described a "outrage"at the blatant misuse of clergy privelege.
All I can say is that if what you allege is true, may HKB"H grant you success and reward you for your noble efforts.Meanwhile I thank you for opening my eyes to what is clearly more than that there seems on the surface.

To my recollection, i was told that they found his hair under her nails and that he had a large insurance policy on her to cover a debt he had due to a diamond cutting job that went bad....
If DNA analysis was in 1980 during Drelich's trials what it is today, the juries would've returned their guilty verdicts in much quicker fashion. Yes, Phil's hair was found underneath his victim's nails, and yes, these murders were all about the love of money that exemplfied Philip Drelich. Ugh.

I witnessed Phil's repentance during the 5 years I spent with him in Greenhaven during the late 90's. No one talks about their cases, but I would watch the tears flow from his eyes every yom kippur. Phil's ability to help his fellow yids by leading them back to hashem must mean something. I was released early through appeal and attribute my own redemption, in part, to the example Phil set. Phil works very hard at saving a yids soul, and I believe in my heart he helped me survive that nightmare without becoming an animal.I came out a good person who helps people on a daily basis. Thank you Phil, I can't thank you enough for the person you are. Good luck my friend.

Please explain to me why Drelich still maintains that a 'Mafia' was involved with his case while he cries out for his two children to contact him? Philip Drelich is the proverbial 'bottom of the barrel' who is exactly where he should be: in prison helping inviduals such as you to avoid becoming 'animals' as he became during the earlier years of his sordid life. He sheds tears at yom kippur services in prison? Write to him that the very first step in t'shuva is to admit your sin(s) to those who have been immediately affected by them, and post what he says to you in return.
As was disclosed during the trial, Drelich had fallen in love with a prostitute and was spending all of the family's mother to spend time with her. He killed an elderly diamond dealer, Martin Paretzky, and stole money from him when he ran out of cash. When his wife confronted him about killing Paretzky, he killed her and their unborn child, as well.
To Mr. Anonymous that keeps vilifying Mr. Drelich, just the fact that he was released from prison shows how wrong you are!
Mr. Dreilich was released on February 29, 2016, according to the NYS Department of Corrections website. It doesn't state a reason.
How did he get early release. Weren't his sentences supposed to be served consecutively?
He was released on medical probation. I heard he has died since.

Drelich was released from confinement on February 29, 2016. He was released to Parole. He is not on any Parole site nor is he on the Social Security Death Index as having died? He was not supposed to meet with the New York State Parole Board until 2029 because of the consecutive life sentences he received in 1980. It is my belief that he is alive somewhere and that his friends have arranged to spread the lie that Drelich died.
Just so the supporters of this rabid animal, Phillip Drelich, know that all of their lies including that 'Drelich died' are absolutely false is the truth and reality that this piece of dreck named Drelich is alive and well on parole in the New Rochelle area of New York as of February 2016. He was serving two consecutive life sentences for the murder of his pregnant wife and his business partner, and was not scheduled to meet with a parole board until 2029. Yet he is out and probably thanks to his sheister friends and supporters who dreamed up the scheme to get this murderous treyf out of prison.
I spent 3 years in the cell next to Phillip until he went to Honor Block. !981 -1984.
